WiserWork Chrome Extensions
Five small, free extensions built on the same principle as the 420+ tools on this site: they do one job well, they run entirely on your own computer, and they never ask you to sign in.
Full Webpage Screenshot
Screenshot tool · 1 click
Captures the entire scrolling page, not just the part on screen. The page scrolls itself, each section is grabbed, and the finished image opens in a new tab ready to download as PNG or JPG.
- Whole page or just the visible area
- PNG, or JPG with adjustable quality
- Copy straight to the clipboard
- No watermark, no sign-up, no paid tier
Volume Master for Each Tab
Audio tool · Per-tab volume
Chrome only has mute. This gives every tab its own volume slider that goes from silence all the way to 600%, so a quiet recording becomes audible and a loud tab stops shouting.
- Boost quiet audio up to 600%
- A separate level for every tab
- Soft limiter keeps big boosts clean
- Optionally remembers the level per site
Text to Speech Reader
Reading tool · Right-click
Select any paragraph, right-click, and the page reads itself to you. Choose from every voice your browser offers — including Chrome's natural online ones — and set the speed and pitch to suit you.
- Reads exactly what you selected
- Natural voices listed separately
- Speed, pitch and volume controls
- Keeps reading with the popup closed
Thumbnail Downloader for YouTube
Image tool · One click
On any YouTube video, one click opens our thumbnail downloader with that video already loaded and every size it has ready to save — no copying the address, no pasting it anywhere.
- maxres 1280x720 down to 120x90
- Watch pages, Shorts, embeds and youtu.be
- Full quality JPG, no watermark
- activeTab only, no host permissions
Link to QR Code
QR tool · Right-click
Right-click a link, a page or a selection and the QR code is already on screen, drawn in your own browser. The quickest way to move a page from your laptop to your phone.
- Links, pages or selected text
- Opens with the code already rendered
- Download as PNG or SVG
- contextMenus and activeTab only
What the five extensions have in common
They are built the same way as everything else on WiserWork. Your data is processed where it already is — inside your browser — and the extensions ask for the smallest set of permissions that lets them do their job.
Nothing is collected
No analytics, no tracking, no account, no server. None of them sends your pages, images, audio or text to us.
Minimum permissions
Access is limited to the tab you are on, and only after you click the toolbar button. Each permission is explained on its page.
Fast and small
A few kilobytes of code with no frameworks or libraries, so they start instantly and stay out of the way.
Free, with no upsell
Every feature is available from the first click. There is no pro version, no trial and no watermark.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the WiserWork extensions free?
Yes. All five extensions are completely free, with no trial, no paid tier and no account to create.
Do the extensions collect any data?
No. None of them collects, stores or transmits personal data, and none has a WiserWork server to send anything to. Screenshots are built in your browser, tab audio is processed live and discarded, read-aloud text goes only to the browser's own speech engine, and QR codes are drawn locally on your own machine. The full detail is in the extensions section of our privacy policy.
Which browsers do they work in?
They are built with Manifest V3 for Google Chrome and work the same in other Chromium browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi.
Do the extensions work with the WiserWork website?
Two of them do, by design. Thumbnail Downloader for YouTube and Link to QR Code hand the address of the page you are on straight to the matching WiserWork web tool, which opens with your link already filled in. The other three do their whole job inside the browser and need no website at all.
How do I install a WiserWork extension?
Open its Chrome Web Store listing from this page and choose Add to Chrome. Chrome shows you exactly what the extension can access before it installs.
How do I report a problem with an extension?
Email contact@wiserwork.org with the extension name and what happened. Bug reports are welcome and answered.
Prefer to stay in the browser?
Most of what WiserWork does needs no install at all. These are a few of the 420+ free tools that run straight from a web page:
