1. Tool Data Processing

Every calculator, converter, and generator on WiserWork runs entirely within your browser using JavaScript and Web APIs. Files, text, and other inputs you provide to a tool are not uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server we control.

2. Advertising (Google AdSense)

WiserWork displays ads served by Google AdSense to support the cost of running the site. As part of this:

• Google and its advertising partners use cookies (such as the DoubleClick/Google Ads cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to WiserWork and/or other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors may use device identifiers or similar technologies for ad personalization and measurement.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. You can also control cookies generally through your browser settings.

3. Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages and tools are most popular. Google Analytics may collect information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site via cookies and similar technologies. This data is aggregated and used to improve the site; it is not used to identify you personally.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

Cookies set by Google (for advertising and analytics, described above) are the only cookies used on this site. Separately, WiserWork itself uses your browser's local storage — not cookies — for a small number of convenience features:

• Theme preference: your dark/light mode choice is remembered so the site looks the same on your next visit.
• Word Counter autosave: text you type into the Word Counter is saved automatically in your own browser so your draft is still there when you return. It is never uploaded, transmitted, or visible to us — it exists only on your device, and pressing the tool's Clear button (or clearing your browser data) erases it permanently.

Local storage data never leaves your device, is not shared with any third party, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. Because this storage is strictly functional (not used for tracking, advertising, or analytics), no separate consent banner is required for it.

5. Other Third-Party Services

This website also loads the following third-party resources from a CDN, which may log standard request data (such as IP address) as part of normal web delivery:

• Bootstrap 5 (CSS/JS framework)
• Font Awesome 6 (icons)
• Google Fonts

A small number of tools additionally query a public data service to answer your lookup — for example, the ZIP Code Lookup sends the ZIP code you type (and nothing else) to the free Zippopotam.us API to fetch the matching city and state. Any tool that contacts an external service says so directly on its own page; every other tool computes entirely in your browser.

6. Browser Extensions

WiserWork publishes five free Chrome extensions, and this section is the privacy policy for all of them. It applies in addition to the sections above, which describe this website.

• Full Webpage Screenshot — captures an entire scrolling web page as one image.
• Volume Master for Each Tab — sets a separate volume level for each browser tab.
• Text to Speech Reader — reads text you have selected aloud.
• Thumbnail Downloader for YouTube — opens the thumbnails of the video you are watching, ready to save.
• Link to QR Code — turns a link, page or selected text into a QR code.

What we collect: nothing. None of these extensions collects, transmits, sells or shares any data. Specifically, none of them collects personally identifiable information, health information, financial information, authentication information, personal communications, location, web browsing history, or user activity. None of them contains analytics, advertising or tracking code of any kind, and none of them contacts a WiserWork server — there is no WiserWork server involved in their operation at all.

What happens to the content they handle:

• Full Webpage Screenshot: when you click the toolbar button, the extension captures the visible sections of the page you are on and joins them into one image inside your own browser. The image exists only in that tab until you save or copy it, and it is discarded when you close the tab. It is never uploaded.
• Volume Master for Each Tab: when you move the volume slider, the tab's audio is routed through the browser's own audio engine, scaled to the level you chose and played straight back out. The audio is processed live and is never recorded, saved or transmitted. Resetting the tab, reloading the page or closing the tab releases the audio entirely.
• Text to Speech Reader: when you choose "Read aloud" from the right-click menu, the browser passes the extension the text you selected — and nothing else from the page. That text is handed straight to the browser's own speech engine and is not stored, logged or sent to WiserWork. One thing to be aware of, because it is your choice to make: if you select one of Chrome's natural online voices, Chrome sends the text to Google's speech service to generate the audio, exactly as it does for any website or extension that uses those voices, and Google's privacy policy covers that processing. Picking a voice from the "voices on this computer" group keeps the text on your device entirely.
• Thumbnail Downloader for YouTube: when you click the toolbar button, the extension reads one thing from the tab you are on — its address — and works out the video identifier from it. It then opens WiserWork's thumbnail tool with that identifier. Nothing else is read from the page, and the address is not stored or logged. The thumbnail images themselves are served by YouTube, so opening them involves YouTube in the ordinary way that loading any image from a website does.
• Link to QR Code: when you choose the QR option from the right-click menu, the browser passes the extension the one value you picked — the link, the page address, or the text you selected — and nothing else from the page. That value is put into the address of WiserWork's QR generator, which draws the code in your own browser. It is not stored or logged. Because the value travels in a web address, it will appear in your browser history like any other page you visit.

What is stored on your device. All five use the browser's local extension storage for settings only — never for the content they handle. Full Webpage Screenshot stores your two preferences (whole page or visible area, PNG or JPG). Volume Master stores the volume level you chose for a website, plus the on/off switch for that feature. Text to Speech Reader stores your chosen voice, speed, pitch and volume. Thumbnail Downloader for YouTube and Link to QR Code store nothing at all.

For all five, this data stays on your computer, is never sent anywhere, and is deleted when you uninstall the extension or clear the extension's data.

Permissions and why they are requested. Each extension asks for the minimum set of permissions needed for its single purpose:

• Full Webpage Screenshot — activeTab (read the current tab only after you click the button, so it can be captured), scripting (measure the page height and scroll it while capturing, then restore your scroll position) and storage (remember your two preferences). It requests no access to any website in advance.
• Volume Master for Each Tab — activeTab (identify the tab you are on when you click the button), tabCapture (the only mechanism the browser provides for changing a tab's audio level), offscreen (a hidden document that holds the audio processing, since a Manifest V3 extension has no page of its own) and storage (remember your per-site levels). It requests no access to any website in advance and cannot read page content.
• Text to Speech Reader — contextMenus (adds the "Read aloud" item to the right-click menu; the browser hands it only the text you selected), tts (speaks that text through the browser's speech engine and lists the available voices) and storage (remember your voice and playback settings). It requests no access to any website, injects no scripts, and cannot read page content.
• Thumbnail Downloader for YouTube — activeTab (read the address of the tab you are on, only at the moment you click the button, so it knows which video you mean). That is its only permission. It requests no access to any website in advance, injects no scripts, and stores nothing.
• Link to QR Code — contextMenus (adds the QR item to the right-click menu; the browser hands it only the link, page address or selection you picked) and activeTab (read the address of the current tab when you use the toolbar button). It requests no access to any website in advance, injects no scripts, and stores nothing.

Limited use. Our use of information received from Google APIs and browser APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Because the extensions collect no user data, there is nothing to transfer, sell or use for advertising, creditworthiness or lending purposes, and no human ever reads your data.

Third parties. The extensions bundle no third-party libraries, frameworks or SDKs, and load nothing from a CDN. The links in their popups (help, guide and privacy policy) simply open pages on this website in a new tab, and only when you click them. The single exception is described above: choosing one of Chrome's natural online voices in Text to Speech Reader means Chrome itself contacts Google's speech service to produce the audio.

On installation, each extension opens its own page on this website once, so you know how to use it. That is a normal page visit and is covered by the sections above; it does not happen again on updates.

Children. The extensions are general-purpose utilities, are not directed at children under 13, and collect no information from anyone.

Questions or removal requests. Because nothing is collected, there is no personal data for us to look up, export or erase. For anything else, email contact@wiserwork.org. If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes with it and the extension listings point here.

7. Children's Privacy

WiserWork is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us so we can address it.

8. Your Choices

In addition to the ad opt-out links above, you can disable cookies entirely in your browser settings, use browser extensions to block third-party trackers, or use ad-blocking software. Note that this may affect site functionality that relies on ads to remain free.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
