One end of this calculation is always today, which is what separates it from a two-date tool. The count is in whole calendar days measured midnight to midnight from UTC components, so a clock change cannot push it off by one and an event dated today reads 0 rather than a fraction. Does the number update on its own while the page is open?

Does it count today itself?

No. An event dated today shows 0 and one dated tomorrow shows 1, so the figure is the number of nights left to sleep through rather than a count of calendar days including today.

What happens if I pick a date in the past?

The main number stays positive and the label changes from days until to days since. The Weeks and Hours cards keep the minus sign, which is a quick way to confirm the date is behind you.

How does the Thanksgiving preset know the date?

It calculates the fourth Thursday in November for the current year and rolls to the next year if that date has already passed. The other holiday presets use fixed dates and roll forward the same way.

What is the Year Progress card actually measuring?

How far through the current calendar year today is, as a percentage from 1 January to 31 December. It has nothing to do with your target date and will not change when you pick a different event.

Can I count down to a specific time of day?

No. There is only a date field, so the answer always comes back in whole days. Use the Countdown Timer if you need hours, minutes and seconds against a specific moment.

Will daylight saving throw the count off?

No. The difference is taken from UTC calendar components rather than local timestamps, so the hour gained or lost in spring and autumn cannot round the day count up or down.

Does my event name get sent anywhere?

No. It is only written into the label on the page. Nothing is transmitted and nothing is stored, so the name disappears the moment you reload.

Why does the Weeks figure have a decimal?

It is the day count divided by seven and rounded to one place, so 30 days reads 4.3 weeks. It is there for a sense of scale rather than as a count of whole weeks.

Should I use this or the Countdown Timer?
